Collection: Leaf Vases

The technique used to create the decorative lines in these pieces is called “combing”. This technique was popular about a century ago with glass created by Tiffany and Co. Our local connection with Tiffany is acclaimed jewelry designer Paulding Farnham. Paulding spent about a decade in the early 1900’s trying to make a go at mining for silver out of the Ptarmigan mine which he wanted to use in his own work.
Mount Farnham, the tallest mountain in the Purcells, is named after him. The mountain lies just across the valley from the mine. Eventually, Paulding lost his fortune (and marriage) to the mine, and moved back stateside.
Always some interesting stories from old times around the valley!
