Thanksgiving Art Show, Featuring Pat Bavin’s Wilmer Inspired Paintings

Thanksgiving Art Show, Featuring Pat Bavin’s Wilmer Inspired Paintings

On Sunday, October 13th, we will be open from 10am to 4pm, with Pat Bavin on site for a meet and greet from 11am to 2pm. His four remaining original paintings of Wilmer, BC, which were recently featured in a show at Pynelogs, will be exhibited and for sale in our gallery. We will also have a presale for prints of all nine paintings in this series.

As an artist, Pat Bavin would like to share an art project that ties with the history of Wilmer, a town that carries a rich silver mining history that reflects on our mountainous backyard of Toby, Delphine, Jumbo, and Horsethief creeks and their tributaries. Wilmer and its historic buildings have been pushing his paint brush for years so he finally started doing sketches of 9 buildings in August, 2023 until snow was falling then spent the winter painting from sketches and photos in his studio. What he didn't expect was how carried away he got, especially with writing and interviewing Wilmer's passionate old timers about the history of these specific structures that they still live in.

The outcome has been an exhibition and 40 page catalogue of the paintings and sketches of Wilmer, including 5 legends, at the Pynelogs Cultural Centre during September with great attendance. As a final wrap up and gathering of more information on Wilmer from the public, I shall be in attendance for a show and sale of the remaining paintings at Bavin Studios on Sunday, October 13 from 11am – 2pm. Bavin Studios galley will be open 10am – 4pm from Thursday, October 10 to Sunday, October 13.

Starting on the 13th you can also preorder prints of Pat’s new Wilmer paintings at Bavin Studios. Please drop by for a viewing and chat. The release date for these new prints is November 15th 2024, which is when they will be available for pick up or shipped to you. Prints are available in our matted format, which fit into a standard 16” x 20” frame, or canvas prints of various sizes. Canvas prints, like the one pictured below, can be made very large to fit a feature wall in your home. The show catalogue book, which not only contains images of the paintings, but also on-site sketches, historical photos, and writing about the paintings, history, and folklore will also be available to order.
