CLOSING DOORS

CLOSING DOORS

The Bavin family is retiring from the retail sector of a store front to pursue new horizons as full time artists. It is time to shift the successful but challenging 30 year practice of manufacturing and selling art under one roof. This has always been our motto. This year is our 30th Anniversary for Ryan and Pat as a son/father glassblowing team along with Pat's total of 45 years being in business; including 10 companies encompassing sports, arts and planning. The family has been developing this shift for a number of years and initiated an online store 2 years ago.

Ryan has recently started showing his glass in Canada House Gallery in Banff, AB as well as Village Arts in Invermere. He will be continuing to work in glass and photography well into to future. He is hoping that with a bit of extra time he can work more diligently on some of the major projects that he has had to put aside for many years due to the day to day operation of the studio and gallery. Ryan is looking forward to producing more diverse and intricate work over the coming years.

While recently providing product to Village Arts, Pat will pursue painting and sketching with some subject matter focusing on climate change with visual interpretation about our water, glaciers and watershed concerns. He is engaging the concept of "2 Eyes Seeing" which involves duo messaging between art and science. Another angle to sidestep the idea of retirement, Pat has a mantra; "Because of art I quit work 30 years ago, and will never retire". Bavin will start sharing his practices of Art, Feng Shui and Shinrin Yoku. He has just returned from a Shinrin Yoku (Forest Therapy) workshop which is all about realigning with ourselves and our senses in a forest walk program,
Bonnie plans to continue creating her jewelry line of bracelets in leather and other components, as well as an earring line which will be available online.

We are going to wrap up this creative chapter of Bavin Glassworks by celebrating our Annual Thanksgiving Show ending Monday, October 8th, 2018. This show has always been about thanking our many friends and customers for their support and we are now promoting the opportunity to register on our website and be kept up to date with our regular newsletters and events. To do so, simply scroll to the bottom of this page, enter your email address in the little white box, and hit the "subscribe" button next to it. We will be doing unique shows locally as was shown to be successful at the "Blooming Art Show" at Winderberry Nursery in June.

The Bavins are looking forward to engage you all with availability by appointment, commission, and regional art shows. Thank you all so much for your support and many laughs since 1973.
